Mayor Davis to Appoint City Economic Development Director

     

Prichard, AL (April 28, 2007) –Mayor Ronald K. Davis announced the appointment of Shayla Jones Beaco as the new director of Economic Development.

In this new role, Ms. Beaco will be responsible for creating and implementing economic development programs and strategies that will result in capital investment opportunities, job creation, meaningful workforce development activities, and business retention and recruitment in the Prichard area.

Previously, Ms. Beaco was the City’s community development director where she was directly responsible for the restructuring of this department as well as instrumental in the development and implementation of the City’s first ever strategic growth plan.

“Ms. Beaco’s extensive background in city planning combined with her experience in working with the Prichard community made her the ideal candidate for this position, said Mayor Davis. “Economic development is crucial for the city’s future growth and prosperity, and Ms. Beaco’s leadership in this position is key.”

“Having worked for the City of Prichard and Mayor Davis for the last two and a half years, I understand fully the significant impact that economic development has on Prichard’s future growth and sustainability,” Ms. Beaco said. Under Mayor Davis’ leadership, I am committed towards the advancement of economic recovery in the city of Prichard by recruiting new businesses and working to assist existing businesses in the expansion of their internal operations and marketability.”

Ms. Beaco earned a Bachelor of Science in political science from Spring Hill College and holds a Master of Community Planning from Auburn University.
