On March 28, 2008 at approximately 1945 hrs the Prichard Police Dept Narcotics & Intelligence Unit was conducting an undercover operation in the northen area of Hwy 45. During the operation Investigators observed Alvin Keith McCants panhandling and loitering in a business parking lot. Alvin Keith MCcants was accompanied by two females. Investigators observed the females attempt to flag down several vehicles. Due to the nature of the operation contact was made with all three parties. The females were taken into custody without incident. When Investigators made contact with MCcants he became hostile towards Invesigators by waving his hands in a threatening manner and failing to follow Investigators orders to drop a pair of pliers, screwdriver and a crack pipe. McCants then esculated the encounter by throwing the items at one of the Investigator's head nearly striking him. At this point McCants was tasered and taken into custody. McCants was booked at the Prichard Police Department Jail for Loitering, Resisting Arrest and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Due to an ongoing operation the location and co-defendant's information cannot be released at this time.
