Prichard Police Respond to Shooting

At approximately 2:53a.m. on August 23, 2008, Prichard Police responded to a call in the area of South Hobbs Ave, when officers arrived they discovered a Black Male dead on arrival, outside  of a residence, shot multiple times. Prichard Police is asking the Public’s help in locating a black, male suspect identified as Darryl Smith AKA Chub, average height, average weight, with a gold front tooth. Police Administrator Marvin Whitfield stated that this homicide is a result of an on going dispute; Smith lives in the Mobile area, but has family in the Prichard vicinity. Be advised that Darryl Smith AKA Chub is to be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with any information is asked to call Detective V. Myles at 251-331-2327.

Five Arrests in Alabama Village


 

 

 

 

On August 21, 2008 between the hours of 1630 and 1900 hrs the Prichard Police Department along with the assistance of the ATF and FBI, executed three drug search warrants and targeted multiple areas identified as hot spots for drug activity and violent crimes.

Surveillance was used along with information gathered from area citizen complaints to identify targeted areas. Undercover drug purchases were conducted earlier to assist in identifying street drug level dealers.

Drug search warrants were executed at 1103 Monroe Street, 929 Marengo Dr. and 1207 Madison Ave all in the Alabama Village area.

Arrest Made (Arrestees were booked in Metro Jail)

    • S JonesSteven Jones B/M 34yoa charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance Crack Cocaine (Monroe St.)
    • JacksonTiffany Jackson B/F 24 yoa charged with Unlawful Possession of Controlled Substance, Police discovered a large amount of ecstasy pills at the residence (Monroe Street.)
    • Robin JacksonRobin Jackson B/M 28 yoa charged with Unlawful Distribution of Controlled Substance, Crack Cocaine, Mr. Jackson has an extensive arrest history and is currently on probation; Mr. Jackson was arrested a half block from where the search warrant was executed. (Monroe Street)
    • No PhotoAndrew Haynes B/M 28 yoa charged with Unlawful Possession of a Controlled substance, police discovered a large quantity of ecstasy pills at his residence. (Marengo Drive)
    • WheelerDorine Wheeler  B/M 28 yoa charged with Unlawful Distribution of Crack Cocaine, and possession of Loratab,
    •  
    • Police Administrator Marvin Whitfield stated that Prichard Police Narcotics and Intelligence Unit, Patrol Special Operations unit along with FBI and ATF will continue these aggressive operations over the next several months.

Most Wanted

Prichard Police Major Crimes Division has identified a person of interest in connection to the homicide that occurred on Wednesday, August 13, 2008 at approximately 2:30pm on Fayette Street.

The Major Crimes Division is currently seeking the whereabouts of a B/M suspect whose name is James Devon Fuller AKA Spud.  D.O.B. 1/8/90. He is to be considered armed and dangerous.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - August 12, 2008

Police Dispatched to Shooting on Hobbs Avenue

On Sunday, August 10, 2008, at approximately 2100 hrs, Prichard Police was dispatched to 203 S. Hobbs Ave in reference to a shooting, when Police arrived on the scene they discovered two people had been shot, a mother and her boyfriend. The mother, who was
shot in the hand, stated to police that her 16 year old son shot her and the boyfriend with a 22 caliber hand gun, the boyfriend was shot in the stomach, transported to USA Medical Center. Both have been released.

On today, August 12, 2008, at approximately 12:15 p.m. the juvenile DOB 3/3/92 turned himself in to the Strickland Youth Center, where he will be charged with 2 counts of Domestic violence assault first.

Increased Traffic Safety as result of Joined forces!

Joint Traffic Enforcement Detail Yield Success

Last Saturday night, at 9:00 pm, Alabama State Troopers from the Mobile Post and the Prichard P.D. Traffic Unit collaborated for the first time to address traffic violators in several areas within the city. 

The operation was developed approximately a month ago and executed Saturday, yielding over eighty citations and 1 felony arrest and 8 misdemeanor arrests.
The citations ranged from vehicle equipment violations to child restraint citations. The Village area yielded the majority of tickets.  

 It is the intended purpose of this operation to address problem areas within the City of Prichard concerning DUI’s, Speeders, Seatbelt violations, No Insurance etc. Both agencies will conduct another joint operation in the very near future to enforce traffic safety in the Prichard community.

Police Respond to Shooting

On August 2, 2008, at approximately 3:30am the Prichard Police Department responded to a shooting incident at 325 Dr. Martin Luther king Drive in Prichard Alabama. The victim was B/M 28 yoa and was found lying outside the front entrance of the business. The victim suffered from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was transported via EMS to the USAMC, and was pronounced dead upon arrival.

After performing an intensive investigation, Major Crime Detectives were able to later identify the perpetrator as Lonzo Gulley Jr. aka Maine B/M D.O.B. 08/20/1981 of Mobile Alabama. Gulley is considered armed and dangerous and has a criminal history. The shooting was the result of an ongoing dispute. Anyone with information is asked to call Cpl Knight at 331-2135.

Daycare Gets Relief from Foiled Copper Theft

Heads up police work foiled an early morning attempt copper theft by three would-be thieves.  Diligent close patrols led to the arrest of one of the thieves.  Two subjects were able to flee the scene; however police expect to make additional arrest of the remaining subjects.

25-year-old Kevin Lashon Butler of 712 Rich Avenue Prichard, Al was arrested for burglar third degree for burglarizing 521 W. Clark Street, the House Hope Daycare around 2:05 am. Butler’s prior arrests range from theft, harassment, domestic violence, to reckless endangerment.

Detectives believe the individuals involved in this theft maybe responsible for other copper thefts in the immediate area.
