Prichard Police Chief Receives Esteemed Certification

Chief Lawrence L. Battiste completed 160 hours of training in the Certified Law Enforcement Executive Program. Chief Battiste is among the elite group of Police Chiefs in the state who have successfully completed the curriculum and have been certified by the Alabama Association of Police Chiefs. This honor is a real credit to Chief Battiste and to the City of Prichard. Chief Battiste received his certification and recognition at the annual Association of Police Chiefs’ Conference in Montgomery, Alabama on February 14, 2008. This announcement was made by Belinda Blackburn, director of Continuing Education at Jacksonville State University and partner for the University Partnership for Alabama Continuing Education (UPACE).

The UPACE Partnership is made up of Jacksonville State University, Troy University, Dothan Campus, and the University of North Alabama. Its purpose is to make continuing education programs available for agencies and associations across the state. Presently, UPACE provides training for the Alabama Association of Chiefs of Police, as well as for the Alabama Association of County Administrators, the Alabama Association of County Engineers, the County Revenue Officers Association of Alabama, and the Alabama Association of 9-1-1 Districts.
