Purpose of the Prichard Community Center
The primary purpose of the Prichard Community Center is to provide a public facility in the Prichard, Alabama area where seniors can meet for social, recreational, educational, and fitness opportunities. In addition, the Senior Center is available for other community-related activities and programs which do not conflict with the primary purpose of the Senior Center. The Prichard Community Center is also known as “The Prichard S.A.I.L. Center” or “Senior Center”.
The Prichard Community Center mission is to cherish and protect the independence and dignity of our seniors by providing unsurpassed care, services, and respect. We will maintain the highest standards possible for people, programs, and products and services. We will always strive to be reliable, and promote excellence in attracting other professionals to our community.
The Prichard Community Center vision is to be the most effective and trusted leader in recreational services; and to provide the most compassionate and innovative care for our seniors and participants.
Eligibility for Senior Citizen Programs
Any person living in Prichard, Alabama, who is 60 years of age or older, is eligible to participate in the activities and programs established for seniors by the City of Prichard.
A meal program is administered by SARPC (South Alabama Regional Planning Commission), a state agency established to plan and coordinate services for older adults. To participate in any SARC program, persons must meet the guidelines set forth by SARPC. Transportation to and from the Senior Center is furnished by The City of Prichard though ALDOT (Alabama Department of Transportation).
Ownership and Management of Senior Center
The Prichard Community Center (Senior Center) is a public building owned by the City of Prichard. The Prichard Community Center is managed by the Community Development Department. A site coordinator provides daily management of the facility.
Other Functions and Uses
The Senior Center may be used by other individuals and groups according to the Rules and Regulations for Operation, Use, and Rental of the Prichard Community Center which have been approved by the City Council
