Prichard Community Center
In October of 2005, the Prichard Community Center officially opened for business. This state of the art facility houses three Community Development Programs which provide a variety of community programs benefiting the citizens of the City of Prichard. This facility is currently the location for the Senior Citizen’s day facility, Weed and Seed offices and provides meeting facilities for the Prichard Urban Forestry & Greenspace Advisory Board (Tree Board).

The Prichard Community Center is a 5,000 square foot structure containing a fully operational commercial kitchen, administrative offices, and an exercise facility dedicated to senior physical fitness programs. The fitness center contains treadmills and other exercise equipment to promote and encourage senior fitness.
In October of 2004, the administrative functions and responsibilities of the Prichard S.A.I.L. Program were aligned under the Community Development Department. All administrative matters, grant proposals, and budgetary requests are managed and prioritized by this department in coordination with the S.A.I.L. Program Director.
The Prichard Senior S.A.I.L. Program offers a variety of services and activities for seniors in the Prichard community. These services include: congregate and home-delivered meals, daily transportation to and from the current facility, field trips and shopping tours throughout Prichard and the surrounding area, transportation for doctor visits and a variety of other beneficial services. The Prichard S.A.I.L. Program is fortunate to have volunteers from within the community as well as outside resources that provide ongoing programmatic, recreational and therapeutic activities for senior participants on a routine basis.
