Departmental Mission: To establish a stronger relationship between the local business community and the City of Prichard by developing and utilizing a series of programs to assist area merchants in their endeavors to promote individual business growth and enhancement. It is the City’s desire to provide all available resources and quality service to businesses and entrepreneurs in order to support business growth and job creation.

What is Business Development:

Business Development involves evaluating each business and helping the business owner to realize the full potential of the company. We use such tools as marketing plans, sales information, management training and customer service feedback. Successful business development often requires a detailed strategy for developing the business in desirable ways which may involve financial, legal and advertising skills. Being creative and meeting new and unforeseen challenges are necessary to keep businesses on a path of sustainable growth.

Responsibilities:

To act as a liaison between the local business community and The City of Prichard.
To develop and nurture a working relationship with our local business owners.
To insure that all business owners have prior knowledge of any changes taking place in the city that may affect their business.
To compile and maintain a database of merchant information for the City of Prichard.

Goals:

Find Incentives that would create more business in the City of Prichard.
Find ways to attract new business for the Prichard Mall.
Have 100% participation in the Business Association.

The overall goal is to ensure the Mayor’s vision for the City of Prichard is accomplished by developing and cultivating a strong partnerships and beneficial relationships with the local business community focusing on the future for the City of Prichard.
