Burn Ban
Message from the Fire Marshall's Office:
The Fire Department would like to clarify that although the burn ban has been lifted by the Governor's Office, there is still an annual burn ban in effect. As has been stated earlier, there is a state-wide ban which goes into effect 1 May through 1 November annually, which is imposed by ADEM (Alabama Department of Environmental Management.)
During that period, the burning of debris is prohibited. The recent ban imposed by the Governor further banned campfires, cooking fires and such that, when left unattended, have led to area wildfires. This ban has since been lifted, however, the annual ban is still in effect.
There will be no permits issued during this time period for residential or commercial burning without special permission through the Prichard Fire Department.
